Barraza became associated with traditional Mexican music soon after moving to Mazatlán and collaborating with Banda San Sebastian and Banda Camino. In 1991, he joined Cruz Lizarraga Jr., Enrique Valdez and brothers Miguel, Víctor, and Silvano Montalva to form Banda Los Recoditos.
He released his solo debut in 1995 with Mis Canciones De Amor which included songs such as “Mis Canciones de Amor,” “Ignoraste mis Lágrimas,” “Gabriela de Mis Amores,” “Pasión de Amor,” and “Santa María Banda.” Most recently, Barraza released Un Sueno, an album featuring 11 songs.
